Power on and pair the halves

The switches are on the top edge. Slide each switch to the right for ON (green), or to the left for OFF (red).

Turn on both halves together. Their blue pairing lights flash while searching and stop flashing when paired. If the blue lights keep flashing, restart both halves and wait for them to pair before connecting a host device.

Use layers

An MO key temporarily activates another layer while held. The default MO1 key is next to the left spacebar. Hold it to activate Layer 1; release it to return to Layer 0. For example, the 1! key outputs F1 on Layer 1.

Keep a usable MO1 assignment. Removing it can prevent access to Layer 1 and its Bluetooth or other wireless-channel shortcuts.

Optional: Japanese and English input

For Japanese input, open the special-keys tab in JZFHub and assign LANG2 for English and LANG1 for Japanese to suitable keys. The source interface labels these Kanji / LANG2 and Hangul / LANG1.

Conversion and non-conversion keys may behave differently by operating system; the source manual recommends LANG1 / LANG2 for this setup.

Firmware update procedure

Use the firmware files intended for your exact Jiffy75 model and the correct half. The source manual explains the update process but does not provide a downloadable Jiffy75 firmware package on this page. Contact us if you need the matching files.

  1. Connect the left half to the computer with USB. Update it first.
  2. Remove its spacebar. Press and hold the exposed metal reset contact underneath, then release it to enter boot mode. A USB drive appears on the computer. If it does not, check the cable or try another USB port.
  3. Open that drive and drag the left-half firmware file onto it. The drive disconnects and the keyboard restarts after copying.
  4. Connect the right half by USB and repeat the boot-mode procedure under its spacebar. Copy the right-half firmware file to its drive. It restarts after completion.

The manual notes that a temporary “unexpected error” message may appear as the keyboard restarts after flashing.

Remap keys with VIA

Jiffy75 also supports wired remapping with VIA. The web and desktop workflows are similar.

  1. Open VIA.
  2. Open Settings using the gear icon and enable Show Design tab.
  3. Open the brush/design tab, upload the model’s definition JSON and click Load. The source instructions refer to Jiffy75_via1.1.json, while the attached download is named split75.json; use the supplied definition for your model.
  4. Keep the keyboard connected by USB. Open the keyboard tab and click Authorize device +.
  5. Select Split75 from the device list and connect. VIA then opens the keymap editor.
